I am a pulmonary physician with basic science background, and interest. My main research interests focus on effects of air pollutants including diesel exhaust particles (DEP) and engineered nanoparticles on airway epithelial cells in airway diseases. I investigated impact of DEP on ciliary beat frequency (CBF) of primary human bronchial epithelial cells (BEC) from patients with asthma and COPD. Our ongoing research includes role of ciliary activity in in the pathogenesis of COPD, primary ciliary dyskinesia and bronchiectasis, and underlying mechanisms.
